About Fairly Booked

Fairly Booked was founded by Josh Curren, a lifelong fair volunteer, community leader, and software developer with a passion for building tools that make real-world events run smoother.

Josh’s connection to fairs began in 2006, when he joined the inaugural Junior Fair Board in his rural Pennsylvania county. Through high school, college, and beyond, he stayed deeply involved—serving on the Intermediate Board until 2016, then being elected to the fair board in 2017. Over nine years as a director, including two years as President, Josh helped oversee the largest event in the county: a six-day fair drawing 50,000 visitors and hosting nearly 200 vendors each year.

His commitment to community didn’t stop at the fairgrounds. Josh also spent more than a decade on the board of the local nonprofit community park—home to the county fair, the high-school football stadium, little league fields, youth football, a community pool, a gun club and range, and numerous public events. This hands-on experience gave him an intimate understanding of how much work goes into planning, managing, and scaling community events.

But the other half of Josh’s story is software.

He built his first website at 13, creating an online presence for his family’s small RV dealership. By his sophomore year of high school, he was contracted by a trucking company to build a dispatch and scheduling platform to manage loads, trucks, and drivers. Working side-by-side with a professional programmer he hired for the project. Later expanding it into a full parts and maintenance tracking platform- Josh delivered a reliable system the company used for nearly 20 years.

Josh eventually studied computer science and theatre design, with a focus on lighting design—where programming advanced lighting systems added yet another layer to his technical expertise. From there, he continued building websites and custom web applications for clients, sharpening both his technical skills and his understanding of what businesses truly need from their digital tools.

Outside of software, he owns two powersports dealerships, including one ranked among the Top 10 in the nation, out of over 600, for its major OEM. Thanks to a strong ecommerce operation, his stores are also the largest seller of parts and accessories for that brand in the country.

Why Fairly Booked Exists

The idea for Fairly Booked was born on the fairgrounds—not in an office.

The county fair tried using an existing event-management system to handle vendor applications, payments, and logistics. The experience was… eye-opening. The software was slow, difficult to navigate, provided minimal reporting, and offered no reliable way to reconcile payments. What should have saved time ended up creating even more work.

After nearly two decades of managing events—and an equally long background in building dependable software—Josh saw the gap clearly:

Event organizers don’t need more spreadsheets.
They need modern, intuitive tools built by someone who has actually done the job.

Fairly Booked was created to solve the real, everyday challenges that fairs, festivals, and community events face: vendor management, contracts, communication, maps, payments, reporting, and everything in between.

It’s built for practicality, speed, and clarity.

And it’s built by someone who knows the difference between theory and the midnight scramble to fix a vendor list before gates open.
